Baby of Summer

Hello everybody. Hope this note finds you all healthy and having a
great summer.

Zelly weighed in at 11 lbs 3 oz this week -- 9 lbs more than her birth
weight. We haven't measured her length yet, but we can tell by the
way her clothes fit that she's getting longer (taller?). On August
20th she'll be 8 months old. Was it really only eight months ago?
And I'm still getting statements for her hospital stay in January,
argggg.

She likes to stand and she's working on sitting up. She's strong
enough to sit up but still loses her balance sometimes. She enjoys
singing little songs to her toys (especially when she's got something
in her mouth). She's also started gargling her saliva... not
necessarily Miss Manners' approved behaviour but silly and
entertaining anyway.

People are always telling us what a good baby she is. My first
reaction is, well of course, she's ours after all. She sleeps from
around 9 pm to 6 am each night and takes a morning and afternoon nap.
She usually drinks a full bottle (just under 6 oz) without any
complaints. She sat for an hour this evening while I got my hair cut
and entertained herself with her Eor and her binkie.

She's happy and healthy and smiling and trying to laugh (it sounds a
lot like coughing right now). By rolling onto her stomach and
pivoting on her belly, she can get to where she wants to go -- usually
in the direction of her toys.

We tried some rice cereal a few weeks ago and she had about a
teaspoon altogether. She was far more interested in the spoon as a
plaything than in the food itself.

She is usually in a good mood unless she's hungry or tired or
bored. She doesn't like to be out of sight of other people for very
long. And when she does catch the eye of someone she smiles and her
whole face lights up.

Well, I guess that's all for now. We're gearing up for Wendy's 30th
birthday (8/17) and Zelly and I have some great surprises for her but
I can't tell you guys because she gets copies of this report.
